You're stitched up, close to me
The heart on my sleeve
Every breath I choke
Each sigh
The pieces of the little things
The sunshine on the floor
Naps to wake up to know
We shared thoughts as I lay
Waiting
It hit me and it sits
Fills me, rises like the moon,
Or overwhelming tide
Your smiling face, your eyes, my pulse
Quiet moments where I am nothing
Nothing but near you, something
And in the light, the dark,
The cool breath of air, the warm dawn of morning
In flannel packaging
You could be just what my eyes open to
Where my steps wander, in gentle musings
In dawning minutes of my day
I know the answer
The question shy on my lips
My hand pressed to yours
Palm to palm in careful contest
Sweet words echo and linger
Hope rises and falls
And I can't think aloud
Lying down
We're a patchwork quilt of feelings
